A ‘parade condition’ current pattern Infantry Officers Sword by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen

82.5cm (32.5”) straight dumbbell shaped blade flat on the back and edge with a deep central fuller and spear point. The heavily etched blade is decorated on one side with the crowned royal cypher for Elizabeth II above a laurel wreath, extensive foliate and strap work designs, and the makers mark of a Squirrel. On the other side is the crowned royal coat of arms above a laurel wreath and a brass proof mark.

Plated steel three-quarter basket hilt with a scroll pattern and pierced strap work incorporating a crown and the royal cypher of Elizabeth II Fish skin grip with silver wire bindings. Cross hatched back piece, prominent circulat tang button. Red and gold sword knot.

Maker: Carl Eickhorn of Solingen Germany (Went bankrupt in 1976 – business taken over by A Eickhorn gmbh but sword production ceased)

Dated: 1953 - 1976

Plated steel scabbard with two loose rings

The sword and scabbard are as new. The blade is in excellent condition with no marks or stains. The bowl guard is as new. The blade is firm on the tang. The fish skin grip has some minor wear marks but is otherwise as new. The sword knot has minor wear. The scabbard is as new with no marks or dents.

This sword would be highly suitable for a current serving officer.
