A good example marked to the 3 Battalion Grenadier Guards dating from the late Victorian era.

33cm (13.1”) slim straight parallel sided diamond profile blade with central medial ridge and spear point. The blade is marked by the hilt with various inspection marks including a Birmingham inspection mark.

Brass cruciform hilt with quillons ending in trefoils and the ecusson bearing the cypher of Queen Victoria. The hilt is stamped 3 G.G. 19 and 10.03

Black leather scabbard with brass mounts. The locket with a single frog stud, and stamped 3.1.1990 and 2 GG 26 and with a Birmingham inspection mark.

The sword and scabbard are in good condition for their age and service use. The blade is free from rust and has minimal staining. The brass hilt is in good order with a punch mark to the grip. It is firm on the tang. The scabbard leather is worn but the seam remains good. There is a small hole in one side. The locket is in good condition but the chape is a replacement.
