A good example of this popular pattern of bayonet by Enfield with rare 1903 pattern Mark II Naval scabbard.

30.5cm (12”) straight slim blade with medial rib and spear point. The blade is stamped on one side with Crown VR, date of manufacture, and various inspection and reissue marks. The reverse of the blade is stamped EFD, broad arrow and enfield inspection mark. The back of the blade is stamped with inspection marks.

Two piece wooden grip secured by two brass rivets. Steel crossguard with muzzle ring. Steel pommel with push stud fitting. The wooden grips are stamped B and 140, and the pommel is stamped 496 (crossed through) and 692.

Naval Mark II black leather scabbard with internal chape, and brown leather frog secured by 4 metal rivets. The back of the scabbard is stamped N and has War Office, Enfield and 03 markings.

The bayonet, scabbard and frog are in very good condition for their age and long service life. The blade is clean and free from rust and staining there are no edge knicks. The wooden grips are intact. The pommel has some staining but no pitting. The scabbard and frog are in good order. The leather frog has some scuff marks  but the scabbard leather is as new, the stitching is sound.
